Isn’t it strange…
to consider trusting again,
someone possibly more than a friend –
the dangers so many,
no guaranteed end.
 
Desiring to move toward tenderness,
a loving kiss, a soft caress  –
gently holding someone’s hand,
perhaps a chance for openness.
 
Long battled memories held captive by doubt,
surrendering to exiled emotions unfelt –
for years held hostage by the past,
its cold frigid grip beginning to melt.
 
And all of a sudden it’s like your first date,
nervous about moving too quickly,
anxious about acting too late,
the fear and anticipation of a newly born fate.
 
Falling into morning
my spirit reawakens,
and it begins to rain…
