AMERICAN CHRONICLES: A Poetic Reflection of Our Times 2001 - 2017
I have always been a writer, but on September 11, 2001, I also became a chronicler. When I saw the second plane hit the World Trade Center, I knew we were entering a new era in America. For those who actually witnessed and experienced this event, the United States would never be the same again. Something had changed forever, including my awareness of national and world events.
As a poet and artist I began to merge my poetic verse with visual imagery and created a website called: visualpoetrycorner.com. After 9/11, I started incorporating more current themes into my poetry and writing, ideas related to actual events that were affecting the country. These fourteen poems represent a brief chronicle and reflection of several major national events occurring over the last seventeen years, since the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
This book features the original poems as published on the website, as a "visual poem". In addition, the original text with commentary is included after each visual poem. If you are a poet, historian, or simply empathize with the human condition, I think you will find something to connect with, and hopefully think about. (PDF for All Devices)
