John Lewis…

Warrior for peace.
Defender of justice.
Contender for equality.
A foot soldier in the war for liberty.

The final fallen patriot
from an epic battle for Civil Rights.

Beaten,
In Alabama –
On the Bus Ride to Freedom.
Left in a pool of blood to die.
Yet, he willed himself to continue and try...
So, he rose to fight again.

Beaten,
In Alabama –
On the Bridge of Defiance.
Cracked and shattered –
Maliciously battered;
With all the strength of generations…
He rose to fight again.

Victorious,
In Peaceful Transformation –
On his march toward complete emancipation.
Moving America ever closer to perfection,
by manifesting the forgotten promise of our nation.

His life answers the ageless question –
What should good people like you and I do?
A role model for confronting the truth…

If not now, when?
